Don't be afraid to sneak in a kiss, cuddle, or tickle. We are going to have fun!
One of my favorite portraits from my wedding was a candid picture of my bridesmaids waiting on the sidelines while my husband and I had our portraits taken. Posed portraits seem so artificial and disingenuous. I prefer to have my clients take the lead in photography sessions from the very beginning. Don't worry, I am here for venue, timing, and clothing recommendations if needed. During our session, I want everyone to feel comfortable and relaxed. I begin my photography session by introducing myself and inviting you to make funny faces at the camera. I take an organic approach to photography sessions. I may suggest a pose and an angle, but I want you to be you in front of my lens. What seems mundane today becomes the source of nostalgia in the future. Candid moments like kissing your partner or chasing a giggling toddler make for the best portraits. I believe everyone is beautiful and worthy of having their portraits taken.
A little about me
My name is Jenny and I have always loved to create. A New Englander at heart, I was born and raised in Maine. I moved to Kansas City with my husband in the fall of 2021 to escape New England winters and to be closer to my husband's family. I absolutely love my new city and all of the amazing people I have had the opportunity to meet as a photographer.
My background is in the field of special education. I have worked in public and private school settings from preschool to high school. After about ten years in the field, I decided it was time to make a change and opened my own photography business. I fell in love with taking pictures at the ripe old age of eight when my mom purchased me a hot pink flip-flash camera that used 110 film cartridges. I photographed my world: my dolls, wildflowers, and friends. As an adult, I continue to capture my world through the lens of my camera. We live on a beautiful planet, and I want to explore all of it. I like to photograph people in their environment, to capture the little things; toddler giggles, the pure bliss of the newly engaged, the companionship of friends and family doing what they do best. |
Yes, I do have an orange cat
My now-husband gave me an orange kitten as a birthday gift in 2009 and Nachos has been by my side ever since. It made perfect sense to name my photography business after him. When he is not sitting on my desk "helping" me edit portraits, Nachos enjoys hunting lizards and snakes in the backyard, eating potatoes, and supervising the household.

Jenny was amazing. She was friendly, kind, and down to earth. We had outdoor photos taken. It had been years since we'd had any photos done so we were a little uneasy -- I especially am terribly self conscious -- she was able to put us at ease! We relaxed! The pictures turned out great! Jenny's a perfectionist -- and we received beautiful photos. She was able to touch up some tired eyes (working 2-3 jobs can do that to a person lol). We're very appreciative of the work Jenny did. She's a beautiful soul! :-D ~Couple's Photography Client
